Frequently Asked Questions

What can we expect to invest for your services?

Being a wedding photographer is so much more than arriving the day of your wedding, taking photos, and leaving. There's planning, communication, editing, styling, and a ton of other things behind the scenes. For this reason, I only accept a certain number of weddings each year to ensure all of my clients receive the best service possible with my full attention.

My 8 hour wedding packages begin at $2500, but the majority of my wedding clients will spend between $3000-3500 on average. Family, lifestyle and couples sessions range anywhere from $300-500 depending on the services provided. Mini sessions are only available during specific times of the year.

Tell us about your gear!

Two Canon 6D, 50mm, 35mm & 24-105mm, 1 Canon Speedlight Flash / Softbox + Battery Pack and an assortment of batteries & memory cards.

What’s your style of photography?

My style is journalistic, lifestyle photography…which basically means that I favour candid, real and unscripted moments. That doesn’t mean that I don’t pose – I certainly do when it comes time to take the formal shots and portraits – but throughout the day, I’m more of a fly on the wall taking photos as they happen without being too obtrusive. My editing style is film inspired – I love shadows and silhouettes, warm tones, contrast and images that provoke emotion.

Do you travel?

Yes! I am based in Renfrew ON (a quick 45 minute drive to Ottawa, 2 hour drive to Kingston or Belleville, and a 3.5 hour drive to Toronto) but will travel within Canada and Internationally. Locations outside of Ottawa and the Ottawa Valley may incur a travel fee but if I am are already travelling to the area (or it's a venue, country or different part of Canada on my bucket list) the travel fee may be waived. Please note that I do not cover destination weddings and shoots in the US due to visa restrictions.

Can we have the RAW files?

I deliver the final processed images in JPEG format. I do not deliver unedited RAW files as this is an unfinished and unedited product which does not represent my product and services. This is industry standard within the wedding photography community.

What's the booking process?

For portrait and lifestyle sessions, I ask for a small retainer to book + secure our time together. The remaining balance of the shoot will be due on the day-of. A client agreement is signed at the time of booking as well.

For weddings and elopements, the process is a little different. We'll meet in person (or over skype if your long-distance) and go over all the important details of your day. If you feel we're a perfect fit - I'll get you to sign the wedding contract and pay a retainer to book + secure your date. Normally, the required retainer fee is 50% of your chosen package, though I do offer a payment plan option. The remaining balance is due 30 days prior to the wedding. That's it!

Will we receive the copyright to our photos?

Under the Canadian Copyright Act (November 2012) Photographers by default own the copyright to the photos they take (and are treated similarly to other artists such as musicians, painters and writers). However, as noted in my contract, I grant a limited personal use license to all of our couples enabling them to use the images, subject to conditions. What does that mean for you? The clause in the contract will enable you to share to social media, including Facebook and Instagram and print the photos for personal use such as in albums, thank you cards or regular prints.

Do you have insurance and is your business registered (ie. are you legit)?

Yes! As a professional photographer, I have insurance, including General Liability insurance and equipment insurance. Stacy Kenopic Photography has been registered and I have a Master Business License (MBL). I also am HST registered and pay my taxes.

What happens if you are sick on our wedding day?

I am part of a community of wedding photographers and have a lot of contacts in the industry, both in Canada and abroad. In the unlikely event that I am sick (so sick that I cannot get out of bed), I will hire another photographer with a similar style to myself.

How many images do we get?

For weddings, I usually include about 70-100/hour! And for couple sessions I include a gallery between 10-200 depending on which collection you go with.

Do you provide Colour and Black & White photographs?

Once the digital files are edited, that is the final shot. I shoot in both black and white & colour, and selectively fine tune images that suit a certain style better.

Should we include a meal for you at the wedding?

Yes, please. And please have a spot for me in the same room as to ensure I don’t miss anything while eating dinner. On another note, ask your planner/co-ordinator to have my dinner brought out during the same time as yours so that I are eating at the same time and can capture you during the times we’re both not eating. A full belly means a happy photographer, and couple :)
